Mascoutin Valley State Trail
Located in Ripon, this trail stretches over three counties for 21 miles. The trail consists of a combination of gravel and dirt. Pass by farms, meadows and view plentiful geese and heron nesting and making themselves comfortable in the many marshes in the area.
The Northwestern Trail begins in nearby Ripon and is a quick 2.8 mile hike along grass, gravel and dirt along what was once part of a railroad system. This trail is suitable for hikers of all levels, but be sure to keep a lookout for the many species of wildlife populating the area including foxes, deer, gophers and wild turkeys.

For a serious road biking trip, consider a ride around Green Lake lake. A 27 mile trip around the perimeter consists of paved roads and non motorized paved paths. A trip around the lake will provide some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Wisconsin.
Mountain bikers can access the Ceresco Prairie Mountain Bike Trail at Ripon College. The trail features lips, jumps, switchbacks and challenging up hill climbs for the aggressive rider. The trail is built into the side of a large hill and winds through scenic hardwoods.

Everyone loves horses. So, make sure your trip includes an educational visit to see Larson’s Famous Clydesdales. Children will not only get to see the majestic horses, but will be given an opportunity to pet them as well. There is a 90 minute tour that ends in a family show for both kids and adults.
You will be hard pressed to find any chain stores and restaurants in Green Lake. The downtown area is passionate about preserving the historic culture that has made the area such a peaceful getaway for family vacations for years.
